newbie intro
 

Hello all, I am new to the board and have just aquired a 77 911s 2.7 with 65000 miles on it. It is brown and has all sorts of problems so I have dubbed it "Mr Hanky". I hope I have posted this in the correct spot, and if not, bear with me and I will figure the board out soon enough. I purchased Mr Hanky off of EBAY from a seller in wisconsin, and I got hosed. They missrepresented EVERYTHING!! oh well, move on. I just finished restoring a 72 opel gt, and sold it to fund the 911 project. I will have tons of technical ?s for you great people out there and I look forward to picking the "collective brain"

Hi Flipper, Welcome to Pelican. Mr Hankey, That's funny. sorry to hear about your story. The bad thing is that seems to happen quite often. Don't worry help is here. You will find tons of information about your car. More than you ever thought possible.

A few tips.

1) This particular board is for engine rebuilds. All other questions about fixing problems with your car should go on the tech forum.

2) There are no dumb questions. However, most will agree that you should try to research your problem before posting about it. This will help you and us identify the problem. You will have enough information to ask intelligent, detailed questions and we can return the favor in our answer. The search button in the upper right corner is your friend.

Wow, must be that $hit brown color to be called Mr. Hanky! And IMO South Park references are always cool. Jamie’s way to kind, we all sometimes ask questions that aren’t terribly smart! Be sure to post details and pics when you can.

HIIIDEEHO! Welcome aboard!

I'm rebuilding a 3.2 and getting closer to splitting the case everyday but trying to avoid it. The info and people here are very knowledgeable and helpful. As stated I would do searches before asking too many common questions. Also, I would get Wayne's book..I'm reading and rereading it everyday and in 99.99% or more of sentences there is valuable info. Only someone with a passion for the subject could have written such a book. Probably not many understand how much work it is. I think most people on this forum will have assumed you have read it. Also, many on this forum have considerable technical education, training and experience. I have a BS and MS in mechanical engineering studied IC engines and worked on cars most of my life and after being involved here I'm now feeling like I don't know that much. Enough of that, welcome.
