I'll tell you why MM is still in business. It is because most Porsche owners have more money than brains, including myself. I was also burned by Roy but at that time there was little info on MM on this website. I had long wanted a 911 and finally had one come my way. I spent the thousands of dollars it takes to get a little horse power out of a Porsche motor. Put the same amount of money in an American or Japanese motor and you'll be smoking the 911’s. I loved my car at one time but that was many dollars, engine drops, indignant calls to other engine builders for help who seem to want to punish you for not choosing them and utterly frustrating calls for help to Roy at MM whom I hope someday someone’s karma runs over his dogma.

LOL, I live fairly close to MM, but would never do business.
My understanding is that on a least one occassion (that I personally know of), Downey PD has had to remove a violent disgruntled customer from their premisises...I am guessing the he wasnt the first and certainly wont be the last...you can only Fuch over so many folks before someone wants to get physical...

I was close years ago and I'm glad I read here first.

I recently contacted them for some parts and instead of coming straight and say they have them and a price, I get a long chain of queries as to why I want them and they are going into.

Case in point, I'm looking for S heads to (re) build an engine on my original S case but want to keep the current engine on my car as a spare. I also have a race car (911S based) for which I already have a very good engine. They come back and tell me that one would only want 69 911S specific heads if one was to build a race engine and thus (apparently) they wont sell them to me???????

Is my money a different color ?

Just a note on the engine rebuilding business:

If we do customers mailed in engines, then after a fully documented rebuild we install this engine in our tester car and testdrive them good!
Then we know 100% that all is ok. We also do only one engine per month and only one engine at the same time.

If MM would do that, they would have less problems.

See also www.911works.com and www.dreamsonwheels.com

thanks, harold

I think it is amazing that anyone who specializes in Porsches could screw one up so badly on such a regular basis. I understand problems from beginners and amatuers...but these guys are pros. When Henry (Supertec) built my engine, I drove up one day and away the next...and have not had a problem or had to see him since. I have not spent a single penny or a minute of time fixing his work...or anything else because he examined my vehicle and fixed potential future problems for me. I imagine I paid slightly more than I would have at MM.....but I am glad I did. There are other guys with great reputations that post and are posted about here....and most have competitive prices. I don't know why anyone would trust their baby with someone who is a well-known molester (Porsche).

You most likely did not spend more with Henry that you would have at MM, if half these stories are correct. You would have paid them, been charged more than the estimate, and then had to go to Henry to have it made correct. Seems like paying more at a reputable builder is cheaper than having someone do it wrong from the beginning.

Motor Meister

I would encourage those of you who have had a bad experience with Motor Meister to send an email to Panorama detailing your experience. I recently sent an email asking how many people, with bad experiences, it would take for them to consider removing Motor Meister from their list of advertisers. Following in red italic is their response. Send your email to the attention of Betty Jo Turner at porpan@mindspring.com

We would be very interested to have a brief summary of your experience with Motor Meister, when it happened and the resolution. Perhaps we can be of some assistance.

Oliver:

I would encourage you to send your story and to attach the address
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/show...er&pagenumber=1 in addition. As far as I can see our only chance to stop these guys is to get Panorama on our side. In addition to sending my story to Panorama I sent it to my PCA district representative. I have found the phone number of the closest Better Business Bureau, to Motor Meister, and plan find out if they have had any reports. Just more ammunition to force their advertising out of our club magazine. It took several days for Panorama to respond, so be patient. Let me know if you get a response.

Motor Meister

Hi:

In my continuing quest to keep you all from making the same mistake I made, namely, using Motor Meister to rebuild my engine, I contacted the LA Better Business Bureau. www.labbb.org Motor Meister began business in 1996 and in the past 3 years have had only 6 compaints filed against them. All 6 of the complaints, according to LA BBB, were resolved satisfactorily. Motor Meister has an excellent rating with LABBB. Kinda makes you want to throw up, huh? So where are all the complaints that haven't been filed? Let's get on the stick and begin filing them. The web site was difficult for me to maneuver, but it may be because I use a Mac. Be patient it could be worth it.

John:

You're probably right, but what the heck it only takes 5 minutes and at least you've made the complaint. Sitting on the side and pissing and mouning doesn't do any good either. Give it a shot. What have you got to loose?

I did get a perfect crank from MM years ago - after I sent back the totally out of spec "perfect, ready to go" crank they sent me.
By buying from them you help keep them in business so they can continue screwing other people. If that doesn't bother you go ahead and buy from them - you'll get what you deserve.

What would you guys think about getting some 100 or so guys to pitch in $30 or 40 and I'll drop them off a crumbum old 2.2T in parts, with all the parts etched so that I can see what we get back? Take their built engine apart and see what we get?? eh?
