Hello,
I am dual plugging my heads and need a template to punch the lower valve covers. Doeds anyone have on of these?

Bill at Extreme cylinder heads can do this. He is in Florida as well. If you need any head work he is the guy to go to. You should see my heads:)

A single template won't fit all applications. If your plug angle is different from the one the template was made for your plug boots won't line up correctly. Don't ask how I know this :(

BTW anyone want some turbo valve covers with 2nd spark plug holes?

This is really not what I wanted to hear. It would seem to me that there would be a commonly accetpted method of placing this second plug hole.

I have a set on my engine that are machined for twin plugs. The engine is still on the stand. I dont think it would be a big deal to trace a template from them. I live close to you in Jupiter so let me know.

Hi Bill,
Hmmm, I actually live in Jupiter also! Me and the car are in New Orleans getting over hauled. I could have my wife come by and pick the template up and she could send it to me? That would be great. My other option was wait till the heads come back and assemble them to the cam towers, and run a sharpie or something from inside the combustion chamber to mark the covers. I just wanted them done before the heads came back.

I would actually recomend the later as you will want to at least double check the placement before you start cutting. The best thing to do is have the shop that is doing the duel plugging take care of this for you. I think it cost me like $10 per cover to have them done at the same time as the plugs. Who is doing the machine work? Ollies did mine.

david, are you serious about the turbo valve covers? My heads were twin plugged at ollies

I did my own twinplug machining. I matched the angle of the original plug. I used the upper cover to determine the lower cover holes. I drew it up in AutoCAD for precise location and I was precisely about a 1/4" off which puts the spark plug wire at a bad angle. I've got a brand new set waiting for me to machine. I haven't removed the incorrectly machined one's, but I don't need them, the problem is I doubt anyone else needs them either.

adomakin, even for free I doubt it would be worth the shipping to send them to you.

If someone wants them, I can send the AutoCAD drawing so they can see if they'll work. I just hate to send them to somebody else just to have them $hitcan them.

fair enough. i suppose my best bet is to send a pair to ollies
