3.2 dies when oil cap removed
Only after replacing the engine in a 89 Carrera, does the engine die when I remove the oil cap.
The installed engine is from a 86 Carrera with 27K miles and passed smog test with flying colors. Here is a list of items I have checked. Ajusted idle speed Vacuum leaks CHT sensor O2 sensor Idle micro switch WOT switch Temp sensor Altitude sensor ECU has stock chip and fuel grade switch is set to normal Tried another Air Flow Meter Assy Tried another Idle Air Valve WOT sw, Air Meter, and Idle sw input voltage Alternator voltage Adjust idle mixture to full rich and lean My feeling is the engine is running to lean. Any ideas? |
did you replace the oil breather hose that goes to the oil fill tube? there is an air restictor valve in there that needs to be in place or else the engine will die when you remove the cap.

Bernie you are good. Car is now fixed. I found the restictor in the breather hose of the old engine. Thanks so much for your advise!
