Carrera oil pump in 2.0 case

I am going to put a Carrera oil pump in my Early 2.0 alum. 911S engine and I do not want to have to use the late sump plate, Is there any thing wrong with cutting off the screen that comes on these Carrera pumps so I could use my orignal sump plate? do people do this? Thanks, Fritz

I also have a big pump to install in my aluminum case.
When I looked at the situation from the side....a deeper sump plate was in order to clear the screen and part of the housing.
Also...if you take the screen off and allow the pickup to rest too close to the bottom of the case...the suction of the pump may pull the pickup down and block off the flow (I have had this happen in a V8).
Best to go with what worked for the factory....and the newer type plate will not hang down much anyway.

I have heard of people using the carrera sump cover but welding in a drain plug on it so you dont have to remove the whole cover every oil change.

I have also heard that you can use 930 Oil pump ( I think that is the one) which I think has the same ratings as the carrera pump but still utilizes the orginal sump cover.
