History of "Max Moritz" P&C kits?
Gang,
I'm trying to collect some information on the Max Mortiz pistons and cylinders... They are an interesting Wedge shape and from what I recall were essentially used as big bore performance kits... What I don't know is: 1. What compression ratio's they were designed for with the various setups 2. Who was Max Moritz 3. Advantages to the wedge vs. others... Any info would be useful... |
My understanding of the Max Moritz P&C is that they were made by Mahle for Moritz the compression is up a little bit over the standard motor. The set I have you cannot run super agggressive cams

the wedge of the Max Moritz piston was to replicate the CIS dome..induce swirl to the intake charge...
Maybe was more economical to machine these limited quantity pistons...rather than have forgings made that replicated a CIS dome but in a higher CR |

Max Moritz was a official Porsche Dealer in Tuttlingen (South Germany) Before the Carrera 3.2 came out (in the SC area) they were working with Mahle on a big bore kit, to make eighter more Torque and HP. I must disagree with Tim, I Think the wedging on the MM piston was to give squish on the periphery. The mm sets Ive read about were a big bore conversion for 3.0 SC to 3.2. What is interesting is that the Porsche Werk racing SC piston 10.3-1 comp has a similar dome shape (Source B Anderson) Neven |
I can say from running a set tha the compression is higher than a normal ROW CIS piston
