chain guide nipples
Got new timing chain guides for a 964. Pushed the mounting pin in with some assembly lube and the nipple inside depresses. It is supposed to be spring loaded so as the pin goes in further the nipple fits into a detent in the pin surface. Well, the nipple won't spring back up. Once it has been pushed down it stays down. My old guides still work correctly. This is the second consecutive set I have had this problem. Anyone else noticing this?

sometimes you have to move the ramp in or out a bit to get the snap lined up with the groove in the pin. try running a pin thru a ramp before you install it to see how it fits.

I was doing this outside of the engine. Just the pin being pushed into the ramp. When I pushed it in, the little nipple inside depressed and then when I removed the pin, the nipple stayed depressed. So it would never find the detent in the pin, becasue it stayed recessed.
