How do I modify a CIS wiring harness for twin plugging?

I'm building a 3.5 twin plug from a 78-79 3.0 engine and I'm sorting out the ignition issues. I'm using a 964 distributor modified for mechanical advance by Steve Weiner. I have two 6-pin CDI boxes and one 6-pin engine harness. Do I need a second wiring harness? Or is their a way to splice my harness? Any help is much appreciated!

Hi Jon,

Good to see that you decided on going 3.5L rather than 3.4L. The 100mm Mahle Motorsport pistons and cylinders are much, much cheaper (comparable to what some are spending on JE's and renikasiled cylinders:eek: ) and will maximize your displacement with the 3.2L crank and rods you picked up.

Anyway, you've probably already checked with Bert, but in case you haven't Andial (i.e. Dieter) used to make up and sell a harness from the CD units and coils to the distributor. The part number was AND 602 907 01 and it sold retail for about $275 although it won't cost you that. Ask Bert to check with Pete or Dieter on the street side.

If I remember correctly, you may also need specially modified cam oil lines, part numbers AND 107 347 01 and AND 107 347 04 but it's been so long I don't remember what the rationale was.

Ralph

Thanks Ralph! I'll chat with Bert about the cam oil lines and the wiring harness.
