Bearing replacement question
I have approx. 800 miles on my newly rebuilt 3.0 ltr 911SC engine and the engine developed an oil leak behind the pulley at the first DE event. I know I need to split the case and NOT do what I did before to correct this leak (quicker joining of the case halves perhaps). I have a couple of questions that I would like to get some opinion on...
1.) Should I replace ALL bearings inside the engine? 2.) I've read many opinions on here concerning using specific sealants. Should I simply use curel-t on the o-ring on the nose bearing or use something else? 3.) I do not plan on removing the connecting rods, is that a bad idea? Should I do anything other than remove the crank and keep very well covered and sealed until I re-install? 4.) I will keep the pistons in the cylinders during the rebuild. Good idea or not? Any help or tips would be appreciated for the second rebuild.... |

No on one, maybe on 2 depending on what you find during teardown, and yes to 3 and 4.
