Question Oil pressure relief plug torque?

Waynes book shows the torque spec for the oil pressure relief valve plugs at 44 ft-lb. Seems like too much. Can that be right?

Does anyone have this spec from a second cource?

Bentley Manual confirms that the tightening torque is 60 Nm or 44 ft/lbs.

All these plugs have to do is not leak and not come loose. I don't use a torque wrench on them. I Just tighten them enough to start to crush the washer lightly and feel like they will stay tight.

Ralph and Andy,

Thanks for the info. At about 44 ft-lb, the washer began to squeeze out the sides and the wrench actually became easier to turn. I was afraid I was stripping the threads in the crankcase, so I backed it out. Later I tightened it snugly (enough to crush the washer slightly) with a new washer and left it at that.
