3.6 valves in 3.2
Exploring the idea of installing 993 valves (non turbo) in a ’87 3.2 during rebuild.
My reasons are 993 are bigger size ( 1 & 2 mm), lighter & smaller stem, parts cost not much more ($350+/-). Thoughts? anybody done it? Thx for helping out a newbie building a DE/track car. |

It's my understanding that the SC heads; port/valve size and config are optimum for apps up to 400hp. If anything the exhaust port could be narrowed to improve flow / scavenging.
Porsche engineers are no dummies.

I'm with AG on this one. As the flow test numbers on heads with OEM valve sizes show they are not your major bottleneck when it comes to making power.
Having your manifold and ports cleaned up would be more effective IMHO. |

Doesn't want/need a 3.6L

Charles,
If you really want to buy new valves to lighten the valvetrain for a DE/track car, the intakes used in the Club Sport motors are a tad lighter than what was used on the regular SC/Carrera motors. Difference in price will also make your wallet lighter, about $60 more per valve. 930 105 409 13 - 49mm "std" intake valve, SC/Carrera 930 105 409 14 - 49mm "ClubSport" intake valve It's up to you to determine if the extra dollars spent are worth it.
