SC P&C Upgrade -- Is it a plugin

Is it a "plug-in" upgrade to replace the P&C's on my 3.0SC with P&C's from a '90-'94 C2?

Thanks, Duane

Nope. They are both round but that's about it. :D
The stud spacing, piston wristpin size and maybe even
O.D. of cylinder is different.

ahh if it was only that easy...

Chris is right as usual, although 100mm options are out there...

There are 100mm Mahle pistons & cylinders for use with SC rods & 70.4mm crank (yields 3.3L displacement) and for use with Carrera 3.2L rods & 74.4mm crank (3.5L displacement). Both will work with machining your 3.0L engine case from 103mm to 105mm. JE Pistons and LN Engineering are other options for pistons and cylinders respectively.

For a walk on the wild side, you can even use those same 100mm pistons for the Carrera rods and crank and use them with the 964 76.4mm crank and Carrera 3.2L rods to make a pre-964/993 3.6L motor. You will have to do some additional machining to the piston domes however. This conversion was semi-popular in the early 90's but this conversion is somewhere around $7K just for the p/c's, crank and rods! It is cheaper and much better (performance and reliability) to go the 964/993 3.6L transplant route nowadays.

Also, it also bears mentioning that with the large 100mm bore it is highly recommended to use twin-ignition for street use and pump gas. This will add another $1,500-$2,000 to the bottom line, making the 3.6L transplant even more attractive.

Did you find some C2 p's/c's for cheap somewhere?

Ralph
