996 dizzy to a 911??
Can a 996 or 964 dizzy be made to drop a 911 ? I relize they go oposit directions so...can a 911 gear be put on and some stuff done to it so the case dose not have to be split??????

Just some quick data points off the top of my head (really should be working):
996 - do they even have distributor? 993&964 - turns clockwise, also fits in a 3.2 motor 3.2 - turns clockwise 3.0SC and 3.3 Turbo - the only ones that turn counter clockwise to my knowledge 2.7 Sorry, dunno Some time before the 3.0, the distributor hole/body was smaller but I don't know when that happened. Hopefully someone knowledgable will correct my memory. -Chris |
well I was thinking of one of those dual piggy back dizzys....what ever they fit on,,I am sure they will drop in if the gears are changed...but I am tring to see if it can be done by just changing the gear on the dizzy and run it backwaeds with some other mods.........thanks!

are you thinking of the twin rotor 964 dizzy? if so check out ralphs thread on his 3.5 build. he used one for twin plug.

Afterburn, The engines that have their dizzys rotating the oposite way require the case to be split and the gear on the crank replaced. Not the gear on the dizzy. Do not attempt to change direction of the dizzy as it will not perform as expected.

Hi:
The 3.6 dual-dizzy can be modified to work in your 2.7, but you'll need to change the crank gear to a 3.6 one. Both distributors turn the same direction, but the 3.6 gear has a different pitch. We do these all the time. |
thanks Steve....not what I wanted to hear, but truth is better then fiction.Think I will just save my cash for SDS then, as I do not want to split the case for a caveman set up.
