That was my thinking allso I only ran like that for moment then I added more oil.Palmer

What kind of ignition and fuel management are you running. Here is a little known (or maybe not) issue that can cause detonation and there goes the bearings: If you are using Electromotive, as the coil packs get weaker this causes detonation and can cause a perfectly sound engine to blow apart rather quickly. No oil starvation, just bang detonation and that's the end of the bearings. Those pictures don't necessarily indicate that but just another thought.

According to Electromotive, if you have detonation, the toothed wheel starts jerking about, causing the overall timing to retard itself. At least thats why they clain you don't need a knock sensor that they do sell.
Anyway detonation would seem like it would severly overload the brearings which causes those squiggley worm like things in the bearing. I don't see any here. A big PS Exactly what info, what source is there on an electromotive ingntion system causing detonation due to any means, let alone reduced spark. Even a 1960 Porsche with a stock single coil and distributor has not had this problem as far as I know. The electromotive system is known for delivering a constant ammont of energy, Joules, to each plug all the way up to 18000 rpm , so this seems like someone who is just spouting off hearsay or worse. |
The fuel and ignition are stock. I am still thinking that I must have starved the engine of oil during the first startup but I am checking
every other possibilty also. Thanks Palmer |
