A couple of reasons to replace or rebuild rocker arms.
First is bushing wear. Most 911 rocker arms will have bushing worn on a taper. If left unchecked, the used rocker arm can side load the new camshaft lobe causing accelerated wear.
Second is the wear pattern on the rocker arm. The wear pattern across the face is different for each of the 911 camshaft profiles. The pattern can also vary in positon on the rocker arm face in the same engine. This is why it is important to keep each rocker in order when you disassamble the engine. ( Only important when re-using the original used parts )

If a worn rocker from a 911 T is used with an SC profile camshaft, the lobe will run off the worn section of the rocker arm face. The small lip between the worn section and the unworn section can cause increased loading. This can lead to premature wear.

There can also a problem with pad length. Some 911 rockers have a short pad. (Very rare) This can casue the lobe to run off the inside of the rocker arm pad causing a wear problem.

Alex, if I was a betting man I would say John the thread starter here could do the rockers for you:) He is great to work with and gives something few in the Porsche world do...customer service

I saw engine construction in "piston rods" and Walt's shop is among the most respected shops around.. I could easily feel like a kid in a candy store walking around his shop saying "I want one of this. Oh yeah, one of that. Etc".

John re did a set of rockers for me, first class job.

I can do the rocker arm work. I do not rebuild the connecting rods.

You might save $$ on shipping by sending both jobs to Walt, instead of sending me the rockers and someone else the rods. Walt is highly recommended.
