I need to resurface the rocker arms because new camshafts will be installed, do you know a shop that can do this job?

I measure the crankshaft and this is what I get:

Main Bearings:
1) 57.97
2) 59.98
3) 58.98
4) 59.96
5) 59.96
6) 56.97
7) 57.97
8) Nose bearing not meassure yet.

Rod Bearings:
1) 53.05
2) 52.96
3) 53.05
4) 52.96
5) 52.99
6) 52.98

I think that the crankshaft are out of specification. What is your opinion?

Intermediate shaft:
24.98 (pulley side)
23.94 (oil pump side)

I dont know the correct meassure for this part. Let me know if the shaft is good or not.

The cylinders are all between specifications. They are Mahle and they are from Grup 6. I can re-reing this engine? The cylinders are Nikasil or Alusil?

The spec for mains is 59.97mm to 59.99mm so 1, 3, 6, 7 are out of spec by exactly 1.00, 2.00 or 3.00mm. I bet there is a good chance that you read the mic. wrong and they are perfect. What's the chance of them being out of spec by an exact multiple of 1mm?

The spec for the rod journals is 52.97-52.99. #1 and #3 are bigger than spec.

Frankly, I am not very good at measuring or I should say it takes me 5 times as long as a machinst would. I just don't get enough practice. I know I get some odd measurements when I'm very tired... I bet there is a good chance that you've "pulled a Chris" and misread the mike or something and your crank is fine.

I've got my fingers crossed for you!

I measure in 2 places, 90 degrees apart, on every journal.

The motor I'm working on now had a crank with a bad rod journal and the customer was able to get a good used crank for something like $800 I think.

Kinda bites that the machine shop charged him $125 for "inspection and micropolishing" and never told him it was so out of spec you could tell just by looking at. Probably an honest mistake. There is a lesson there though; trust no one, measure everything yourself.

Remeasure, maybe it's not as bad as you thought. :)

Thanks for the info Chris, I will take the meassures again.

I measure again. The guy in the machine shop measure again and the crankshaft is out specs. It will grind it. I know if not recomendable, but there is not another option.

Sorry man. :(

As it relates to your crank, I recommend you send the crank to a machine shop specializing in Porsche. The nitriding process is a necessary process, few can do adequately.
