What is a "7R" case and what makes it special?
Usually I use the search feature for questions like this, but the search feature requires at least three letters. A '73.5 911T I bought supposedly has a 7R case.
Why is it special? How can I tell if I really have one? What years was it available? Thanks in advance. |
It is the strongest of the magnesium cases. If building a large displacement mag case engine you need a 7R case and then you need to have it updated and modified. Line bored, spigots bored for the engine capacity you want (up to 2.9L) shuffle pinned, oil bypass mod, bigger squirters..... lots of stuff you can do.
I have a 7R cased '73 2.4T engine core that was originally CIS that I am going to be selling if anyone is interested. |
I guess the newest trick is to freeze them too
|
All 73.5T's had them. Some late 73 E's and S's had them too.
|
Terry....you have a PM regarding your case.
Thanks, Steve |
Got it.... my case isnt really a case at this point. Its an entire 2.4T engine minus injection. I have not disassembled it, its been sitting under my workbench for the past 3 years.
So... at this point I cannot tell you tons about the case nor can I sell just the case. Hopefully later this year I will get to tearing it down. |
Terry,
Let me know when you get to it....what would you want right now for it?? Steve |
You can have the entire engine for $1500. But shipping??? No idea how to make that work. I am in Atlanta.
|
Go to ForwardAir.com. You can ship through them for very good prices.

Hey Terry,
Thanks for getting back.....a little steep for me at the moment especially w/o shipping considered. If you do get around to splitting the long block up please keep me in mind. I would appreciate it! Thanks in advance. Steve |
