Making sense of numbers
 

Could someone please help identify the following numbers. These items are off a 1970 911E case (engine # 6200133)


camshaft # 90110510402
piston diameter 89.98
intake valve 1.80" 91110541120
exhaust valve 1.60" 91110541550
cylinder head casting # 9111043020R
cam housing # 9011051110R

can't tell you much, but the piston diameter makes it sound like a 2.5 or 2.7 depending on what the crank is.

I looked up the cam # in on the forums and couldn't find anything. no official docs by me at this point. sounds like it could be a fun motor

I believe the cam is a factory racing cam part number. Is the cam drilled for center oiling?

Yes they are hollow centers.

Sounds like a 906 cam.

Really? These are in a 70 911E case with 90mm Mahle RS pistons. Any ideas what kind of application this engine would be good for?

Do the cams have an MFI takeoff on them? If so they're almost definitly race cams and probably pretty high strung ones, not a good street motor. (8300 or so redline).

If they don't have the MFI takeoff then it's possible they're very early solex cams, or they could be race cams from a carb'ed car. Solex cams are somewhere inbetween E's and S"s when it comes to powerband.

What is the other side camshaft casting number?

I looked thru my data, the 901 105 104 02 is the correct casting number for the 906 cams.
