factory steel head stud reuse

Hi
may you give me your opinion:
shall i reuse the steel head studs after teardown ?
i mean, they could have been a bit stressed during tear down operation (using snap on removal tool).
what do you think about it ?
(case savers to be installed in a mag case)
best regards
Philippe

the steel ones are now pronouced "better" and are cheap enough..replace,cheap insurance.......very hard to do in car.......tear dwn again.

if their threads didn't get damaged from removal, i see no reason why they could not be reused.

the only thing I am thinking is if they have been there 10 yrs or so....might be a good time to do it

no reason to replace em unless they are damaged.
If they haven't seen extreme corrosion or over-stressing they will last longer than the car.

well John for sure ought to know, I was under the thought they sort of had a t.b.o.

after you use a bench grinder wire brush on them, they usually look like new. any pitted ones should obviously be replaced.

Walt at CE using the same procedure, but media blasts the studs. If they look ok he paints the studs (not threads) to prevent rust/corrision, etc.
