factory steel head stud reuse
Hi
may you give me your opinion: shall i reuse the steel head studs after teardown ? i mean, they could have been a bit stressed during tear down operation (using snap on removal tool). what do you think about it ? (case savers to be installed in a mag case) best regards Philippe |
the steel ones are now pronouced "better" and are cheap enough..replace,cheap insurance.......very hard to do in car.......tear dwn again.
|
if their threads didn't get damaged from removal, i see no reason why they could not be reused.
|
the only thing I am thinking is if they have been there 10 yrs or so....might be a good time to do it
|
no reason to replace em unless they are damaged.
If they haven't seen extreme corrosion or over-stressing they will last longer than the car. |
well John for sure ought to know, I was under the thought they sort of had a t.b.o.
|
after you use a bench grinder wire brush on them, they usually look like new. any pitted ones should obviously be replaced.
