Engine noise question
Engine is a 2.4...have a semi loud "clack clack clack" valve noise that comes and goes very quickly...may last for a few seconds or a few minutes. It may get slightly worse (more frequent) as the motor heats up but does it when cold too. Sticky valve? Rocker arm trouble? Oil level and pressure are ok. The motor sat for a couple years and has been driven about 1k miles since its resurrection. Runs very nicely...maybe a little miss when "clacking" on very light acceleration but almost to slight to verify. I haven't pulled the valve covers or checked compression. What do you think?

Check your valve clearances first, I had a similar problem and an adjustment cleared it right up.

Thanks Walt, I'll do that.

While you are checking clearances look for any that are very excessive, these could indicate a stuck valve, if, this is the case then, there is a chance it might free itself, but unlikely. More probable you are looking at a top end pull down! Good luck!!!
