Stupid question: How to remove duct tape residue

Edit: Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. Please move if you can. Thanks

I had to tape a piece of my bumper this weekend at the race and I did it with duct tape. I'm repairing it now but I have the tape residue on the paint.

How the heck do I remove it? I've tried simple green and glass cleaner.

Thanks
Tristan

WD-40 works good.

I use a silcone and wax remover from the paintshop, its used prior to painting, or I have used the bug and tar remover you can buy anywhere which I think is really just charcoal lighter fluid which also works great.

Try glue / decal (spray) remover available from auto parts store. It is essentially what's left from the tape.

John D! Thank you. I would never have thought of WD-40. It immediately took it all off!!

Cheers mate

I use a mild mineral spirits paint thinner. Don't use anything harsh like laquer thinner or acetone.

3M adhesive remover. you can get it at the parts store is great for removing all kinds of glue residue and it whips off clean. doesn't mess up paint.

Goof off works awesome. Mineral spirits works very well. Mineral spirits is also the best aluminum cleaner out there. I use that on my wheels then come back with my polish

Gasoline. If you want to be fancy, use 100LL aviation fuel.
