2.2S cylinders vs 2.7 cylinders

I have a rebuilt 70T engine that was reported to have 2.2S pistons and cylinders. Someone that looked at the engine believes that the engine has 2.7 cylinders. Is there a way to tell the difference by looking at the cylinders and/or heads? The part # on the heads is 911.104.306.OR. Could these heads really accomodate 2.7 cylinders?

Thanks in advance,

The heads could have been modified to accept the larger cylinders, so that doesn't help you. Can you find any maker's mark on the cylinders? 2.7 cylinders were produced by both Mahle and Kobelscmidt. I don't remember who made the Biral cylinders. Kobelscmidt? If you haven't already done so, Bruce Anderson's book and/or Wayne's book will likely have pictures of both types of cylinders that could lead to a way for you to make an I.D.
