Quality of head rebuild--

I just got a set of heads that were rebuilt, no info on who did the work, or how long ago. Heads have been installed onto cam towers (evidenced by gasket leftover), but not run. Is there any way to check them, before I bolt them in? I figure I should disassemble and have the springs checked at least??

Thanks,
Don

there are varying qualities of head work. i've see some pretty bad seat jobs that were done at supposed professional shops. they are a major determining factor of how well the engine is going to run, so no better time than now to disassemble the whole works and have someone good check them out. 2-3 hours labor well spent.

The heads can be checked. Spring compressor. Then can look at the seats, margin, guide, and guide/valve fit. Once you have gone this far, ready to be put back together.

In Orlando, there are a couple qualified shops I can recommend. If you would like numbers, email me at reyes7641@yahoo.com.

Tonight off to Hooters or Steak and Shake ( 436) for bike night.

I would like to find out if you remove 0.25 mm while resurfacing your cylinder heads what would be your new CR? Starting with a stock 8.5:1 and using the 0.25 base gaskets
