Pressure fed tensioner saftey stops

Hi all I just modified my pressure fed tensioners with a tube under
the piston to stop it from collapsing completely if it fails. Has anybody else done this I got the how to info from EBS I made a 7 mm tube to fit in there. My chains seem tight now tho not as tight as when I adj cam timing I can move the chains up and down about a 1/2" where they go over the ramps and the engine
turns over easily not tight like when you adj cams. I still have about 15mm of travel left in the tensioners. My question is is how tight is to tight my chains are new how much do they stretch?
thanks Palmer
