engine repair in Chicago area
Hi everybody, I just got word that the "phut-phut" sounds coming out of my 3.0 SC are due to the dreaded broken Dilavar exhaust headstuds. Is there anyone in the Chicago area who can do the change without a major rebuild and ensuing costs? The car has only 43K miles and doesn't leak or burn any fluids.
I pulled the motor last year and changed out the gaskets, and replaced the clutch when the tranny main seal failed and oiled the clutch facings. The hydraulic chain tensioners are also installed. What can I expect to pay - any recs?- Thanks Kevin Murray |

Kevin,
How much of the broken stud(s) do you think is exposed at the case (did you see the engine or did the mechanic just called). I can easily remove the broken stud if there is enough of it to grab onto like I explained last night. As long as you can resist the "while you are in there" fever (no one I know has) the topend job will be manageable. Let me know if you want to talk further about this. |
