It runs!!! (Thanks Wayne!!)
We fired up my 2.2 for the first time yesterday, and it ran great! It's officially burnt-in and waiting for some doors so it can get on the road.
I was very happy it started and ran so well, since I just rebuilt the Webers and had just made a guess to their settings. There was some backfiring out the intakes, but other than that it ran smooth. After 20 mins, there wasn't a single drop of oil on the floor. This was my first engine job, first porsche. Wouldn't have been possible without Wayne's book and store. Also, all the help here on the board is priceless. (not to mention the locals I've been bugging so often, Ted at German Precision, Mark at Sportech...). Thanks! Jeff |
well done Jeff, another fresh leak free flat 6ix!

That's what we like to hear! Putting another nail in coffin of the myth that "they all leak".

Jeff,
Congratulations. I am about ready, 2-3 days, to lift my 3.2 in after a top end. Been using the "book" and Ted and a number of people local in the PCA club. Of course I've also been picking up a lot of good info. here. I live in Saratoga, probably not far from where you are. I guess we'll see if I had enough patience to get a leak free motor. I didn't tighten everything all the way, e.g. cam oil lines because I didn't want to overtighten...easy to go back and snug'em up later. I guess we'll see if I've been living right. Anyway congratulations again. -henry |
