chain tensioner

what? opened up my 69t cam covers and expected to see spring tensioners, found what appears to be mechanical chain tensioner tools (pg 163 & 167) on both sides which are ? solid machined aluminum and non-metric nut/bolt to adjust/tighten. is this oem? for any year? did this do the job, cause damage and/or an immediate issue. obviously looking to carrera upgrade but just working on getting it running before that kind of investment.

Others on this site probably know better but I haven't read that solid tensioners were ever installed stock. Considering that some racers use solid tensioners...I guess you could check the tension, what ever that is suposed to be with solid tensioners, and use them to get it back running. As I have mentioned before on this site...the risk is that the chain system and block, cylinder, head and tower don't have the same expansion rates and the chain gets too tight. IMHO....

No, that's not stock or OEM. Used for setting cam timing and by some racers. You need to get some OEM tensioners asap.
