threads on building 3.3T out of 3.2?

thought I'd seen a thread on building a 3.3L turbo motor out of a 3.2 carrera motor here, but cannot find it now. Any help?

What are you trying to accomplish? Plenty of people have done this just need to know what you are shooting for. My buddy Juan is making big hp on a 3.2 based turbo engine with 3.3 pistons and cylinders

exactly - I have 3.3l p&c's and potentially a 3.2 bottom end on the way. I want to verify that they can all be assembled together, and what the suprises, if any, are.

Search Juan Ruiz - that's essentially what he has - 3.3 clyinders on a 3.2 g-50 Carrera and a big friggen turbo that shoots flames!

Hi, I have built a 3.3 turbo, from a NA 3.2 Turbo.

What would you like to know?

I simply used 3.3 P&C's, 0.5mm base cylinder shims, 0.5mm C2 Turbo head gaskets. I also machined down the base of the cylinders to maintain a 7.0:1 C/R, because I want to run big boost (~1.3bar on pump gas).

I'm also running GT2 EVO CAMs, ARP fasteners, titanium retainers, turbo racing valve springs, PhBr valve guides and 964 piston squirters for better piston cooling at high boost levels.

Most, if not all, serious BIG HP 930 guys go to a Carrera intake and aftermarket EFI system anyway, so what you are really doing is taking advantage of the proven Carrera platform, which is built on the 930 components anyway (crank, rods etc) :D

I'm happy to answer any questions about the conversion.

P.S: If you are aiming at BIG HP by running BIG boost with racing fuel, then I highly recommend having your cylinders and heads flame ringed (or, more commonly known as Nerosist). Protomotive use aluminium sealing rings when they flame ring the liners. However, for boost pressures under ~1.3-1.4bar, the C2Turbo head gaskets offer optimum sealing at those levels.

PPS: AFAIK, Juan still has his 911 turbo. His racing team is also dabbling in turbo'ing ricers now

Yes Juan still has the Porsche:)
