68 911L motor...so I'm told.
Hi Guys,
I just bought the drivetrain from what was a 68 911L. That being said here is the story on the car. It was sold to a Movie production comp by a local Porsche service shop for $14000 CDN a few years ago. The car was used in a movie and blown up (fliping the car in the air) Motor was removed before this so I'm told :-O Anyway, I bought it complete with 40 Webers, 901 trans, rebuilt alt and some other parts. Motor runs well as seen. The problem I have is there is no serial # on on the case beside the alt? It is a sand cast alum case, Could it have been replaced with a new one at some time? Is there anyway to tell by any other #'s? The heads have a date stamp of 10/67 on them, but thats all I can see. Would the case part # tell me anything? It still has the cam driven pulley on the drivers side so from what I know that makes it a 911L motor W 130hp 148DIN? Sound correct? |

Yup. Sounds like it. I don't have access to my motor at the moment to check serial#s but the drivers side cam pully is usually the tip off. Could be from either car in 68 (standard or L) as both had the same 901/14 engine.
