Case sealing
 

I've come across conflicting info on case sealing. Should the sealant be applied to both case faces.. or just the right hand side? Dan

I did just one side (the side with holes not studs) and no leaks yet

Just the one side. There is a HUGE thread on this on this forum, its a good read....

Hey Jeff.. not at all. I feel sometimes my posts and replies are a bit to "pointed." My biggest problem, is that my typing and composition skills suck. Anyhow ,I did a search and I'm still conflicted. I'm confident that my measurements and clearances are correct. ..just don't feel that way about my case sealing. I'm not in a hurry though. Dan

It is kinda the one thing you REALLY have to get right the first time. A lot of other things can be fixed later or redone etc. You can't even check your work until its fired up!

You can say that again..HA,HA. I 'm fairly certain I'm not going to use Lockite 574. I'm leaning towards Dow 730, Three bond 1104,or Dirko.Everything awaiting this decision. Dan

The 574 is good stuff, used by pro builders for years, not to mention the factory. The key is to go thin. I built my 2.2 last year from a 35 year old mag case and (knock on wood) no leaks. I've also noticed nuts and bolt heads that were accustomed to being soaked in oil now in a somewhat rusty condition.
