				 | Broken head fins
I am tearing down my 3.0 for a rebuild due to an engine knock and when I pulled the heads I found that on two of the heads I have two or three fins broken near the headstud closest to the spark plug hole. The missing pieces look like they are about and inch long. They are the fins furthest from the head bolt and spark plug hole. Is this a cause for concern?

Should be OK. It doesn't speak well for the last guy that was in there, does it. I found the same thing on my 2.7 three years ago. Not a big deal. When you send in your heads for rebuilding ask them. I'll bet they were damaged during a motor R n R. Banged around on a floor. Have fun and Good Luck,

Thanks Doug. The prior owner had Motormeister do the rebuild - that probably explains it.
