Cam housing end cap sealant?

I bought a set of real nice used cams and cam housings for my 2.7 CIS. One of the housings was missing the end cap. I've ordered a new one and was wondering if I needed to use any sealant when I install it? Also, is it a simple "tap in" operation?

You don't need sealant but it won't hurt anything. A little Loctite 518 or 574. Do not use RTV or silicone.

Thanks Chris. Can I just tap the cap in with a soft hammer?

By the way, I followed a recommendation you made earlier and sent my heads to Anchor Atlantic for refurbishing. Man, what great job they did. And Bob said you were "a character."

Instead of using a soft hammer or frozen pickerel directly I'd use a big socket as a driver and tap on that. That way you can drive it in evenly without hitting the outer (sealing) edge.

Yeah, Bob at A.A. is great. I love the candy too. :D
