So an worn old tired engine could still have most of itīs horses left, at least peak?

LOL,..There are too many factors at work here to make wide generalizations and I was referring to Erick's RSA engine where broken rings that show up in leakdown tests do not always show a serious reduction in peak HP.

The variables are valve sealing, ring sealing, camshaft timing and wear, etc.

If you have a worn, old tired engine, you could do a few runs on a Dynojet to see what it does at the rear wheels. :)

Thanks guys. I'm having the fuel injectors cleaned and rebuilt. And I'll check for vacuum leaks in the intake system. Does anyone know where to get a "wand" for a propane tank to test for leaks?

Thanks for all of the valuable info.

Erick:

Its pretty easy to make one,.....:)

I took a 8" length of 1/4" ID copper tubing and drilled 6 very small holes near one end. Then, I crimped that end in a press (you coud use a vice) so gas must flow through the holes.

I used a length of surgical rubber tubing to connect the copper tube to the propane torch after I removed the burner head.

Now, you have a device that allows you to introduce propane gas into small places all over the intake system,............:)

Beautiful! Great idea. Thanks.
