Help on Dome light , On/Off switch

Need some help from the knowledgeable pelicans out there.
1989 911 3.2 and I need to change the on / off switch in the door jams ( dome light )
I bought the necessary items from Pelican Parts , Switch , washer and rubber cover . I was instructed by someone who worked there to remove the carpets on both sides of the knee wells ( easy to remove ) and could reach around the connect the wire with the new switch . Not Correct !
I could not get to the inside of the jam from there . How in the H***L do you change the switches without removing the entire door to access the wires to connect . Forgot to add a minor detail . When I removed the original switches the connectors on both sides were so corroded that they just fell off and into the hole .

Thanks in Advance for all your help

Just unscrew them from the door. There is enough wire behind them to pull out for working room. The wire is crimped on the back of the switch. You can uncrimp the old switch and just re-crimp the new one in place. Easy as pie!
Just saw the part where you dropped the wire into the hole. You can probably fish it out with a coat hanger with hooked end.

Happy fishing. You will get it. It may just take awhile. Do you have a forceps or hemostats? Once you find the wire you can keep it from dissappearing into the black hole again.

It never hurts to disconnect the battery. Better safe then sorry.
