Question oil brands

Ok I have used just about every brand of oil out there in just about every kind of car.

I started my 89 911 3.s liter with castrol gtx and I have had mixed results. I have used swepco in many ferraris and found it expands alot when it gets hot. I was told to use kendall in the porsche. the engine sticker says shell.

What do you all think.

What oil is best and why.

I use Kendall for a non-synthetic oil. I started using it because it was recommended by many racing friends. I keep using it because I tried several non-synthetic oils in my old Chevy Caprise with a 305ci V8. I added a good oil pressure gauge to the dash. Kendall maintained good oil pressure over it's life better than any of the other oils. I've heard Kendall was sold but I'm hoping the oil formula is unchanged.

I do recall reading the Kendall formulation was changed several years ago. It does not seem to have hurt the popularity of the brand.
