it's the adapter(yoke) that's pricey; any regular stand will do. The porsche tool P201 engine yoke will allow you to split the case while on the stand without causing undue stress on the case.

I bought an engine stand from Sams - goodyear model... it was like $56.00 and folds which is nice. I also wanted one that had 4 wheels on the ground.

Yoke from "mainlybydesign" Although I recommend this being spaced out another inch or so.

Jeremy, can you split the case with that one? I never found out and ended up buying the p-tool.

Only thing I'd recommend is spacing it out a little further... I have about 4" spacers that came with the regular engine stand. I'd recommend at least 6" between the mounting surface and the surface of the engine stand (yellow part)
