Twin plugging would be MORE important without intercooler. Depending on compression, piston shape, bore size and rpm twin plugging could make sense.

Boost treshold would be 2500-2700 rpms according to reliable info. So I suppose IŽll get my self a intercooler then. We just got a huge one from a Scania truck.

A quick update

I thought you guys might get a kick from this email.

"Thought I would let you know first. It looks like we are making about 348 RWHP at 1 bar on 91 octane pump fuel. Just a heads up.
We plan on putting in some high octane fuel and running about 1.1-1.2 to she what she'll do., keep you posted."

Henry, is it possible to use the intake and cis from the 930 3.0 and use it on my 79 sc 3.1 engine in place of the plastic airbox, will it bolt up.

Do you still have pictures of the 914-6 turbo header and intercooler? Can you post them? Thanks

I recomend using twin GT17's if you want quick response. They are used in new SAAB 9-5's up to 180hp.

Boost treshold is ~1700 RPM on 2.3 engine. Interpolate the results with your volume and you will get approximate treshold +- 5% (depending on headers and ignition timing)

They are fairly inexpensive and quite small. Internal wastegate is a plus, less hassle with external ones.

A 3.0 turbo intake will fit an SC.( better on a late 3.0 80-83 than an early 3.0) I believe I have enough parts to duplicate the system in Brian's car. All you need is $$$$$$

BTW: I think your engine is a 3.16. Just like a few of the earlt 935 engines

I thought I would give a quick update to what has been going on with my car. I decided to intercool the car. The primary reason was to keep it cool and a little added insurance. If I gained a few HP in the process than that would be cool too. I did not want to put a big tail on the car though, I wanted to keep the sleeper look... So, we fabbed a custom intercooler to fit under a ducktail.
Tha car was run on the dyno with and without the intercooler. The numbers were very close in both configurations about 340RWHP without the intercooler and as much as 358.7 RWHP with the intercooler. The day the car was on the dyno it was 105 degrees, so I would imagine that on a cool day and with the car moving we should be making a bit more. The boost was run from 14 psi up to as high as 17 psi (.97-1.17 bar) with 91 octane as well as 100 octane fuel. NEVER a hint of detonation!!! Henry's Twin-Plug set-up is too cool. Based on the dyno numbers, I will run the car at 15psi (1.03 bar) and will enjoy right at 349 RWHP!!!!
I am also now running 17x8 & 9.5's with 235/275 Toyo RA-1's to keep her planted.

Love the car.....
Its probably already posted but what trans are you running?

How stable is the rear when burning through the gears? I would think 2nd would be a blast on a wet skid pad.

It's amazing to see this car. I love it in every way. I have been putting a plan together to do something a little less radical than this. I am not ready to twin plug yet. Maybe I am. I will use the turbo 3.0 intake and fuel dist on a fresh rebuild o my 79sc. I love the old school carrera look, so It's cool to see someone build one like I wanted to see in my garage:)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1151045555.jpg

Intercooler

Hi Bryan, very nice intercooler installation, can i ask who made it? I have a ducktail too and would like to keep it rather than switching to a whale tail,
Brett
