Most Porsche machine shops offer reconditioned rockers.
We use Costa Mesa R&D. Quick turn around and fair pricing. He charges $216/set. Some rockers are not rebuildable but he has used rockers to fill your set. Most of the time he can exchange your rockers so there is no down time. Remember to remove the adjusters before you send your rockers in. Call John @ 949-631-6376 Cheap enough for us to use them on all our rebuilds just as a matter of course. I believe our host offers valve adjusters at a reasonable price (if reasonable can be attached to anything Porsche). |
Thanks Henry, I've been meaning to get this going for the winter.
I appreciate you help |
Hello to all,
An update on the noisy valve after rebuild. While checking and setting valve clearances I discovered 2 things that were the source of the noisy valves: - One elephant foot /swivel foot was indeed worn out. Replace that one and the noise was disappearred for the half of it. - I noticed that one of the exhaust pipe seals at exhaust port number 6 was not thight enough. It made a kind VW Beetle puffing noise which gives me the idea of a tapping valve. Both problems are solved and the engine is really running fine without irritating tapping etc. Thanks for your reaction and also thanks to the search function on this forum! Regards, Dick 911 |
Dick,
Thanks for the update. If I may ask, how were you able to determine one of the elephant feet were bad? |
Hello Dave,
I used a stethoscope to locate the tapping valve/rocker. I loose up the adjustment screw and noticed that the elephant foot had an unusual lot of up and down play (I don'y know the english words) on the screw itself. I bought a new one to compare the bad one and the new one... I replaced it with the new one. How loose was the bad one it on the adjustment screw? Well, when I put force on the feet with a pincer (?) the feet came off !! I 'm lucky this didn't happen while in my engine... Hope you can use this information. Dick |
