Itb Efi Mfi?

Every now and then I get the itch to play mad scientist and invent a Frankenstein. So if you wouldn't mind indulging me, let's say you have in your mad scientist laboratory....

(a) 2.2 MFI TBs' and stacks
(b) 87' Euro Carrera motor
(c) 3.2 induction with DME, sensors and harness
(d) early exhaust with O2 sensor bung
(e) more time and money than sense
(not that I have that much time or money)

So, I've been considering a hybrid induction setup for the euro 3.2 in my 73'.

I have a set of 2.2 E stacks and TBs' I can bore out. I also have an 86' Carrera induction with DME, harness and sensors. I can mount injectors in air filters ala "Madonna style" (for you youngsters it's a Gerry Woods invention for mounting the injectors in tiny steel boobies atop the air filters) or use turbo CIS injector blocks that have been bored out and adapted for EFI injectors and mount these between the TBs and intake port.

So my questions are:

1. How feasible is it to program a Motronic DME to run without the MAF? All other sensors will be there. (TPS, oxygen sensor, crank sensor, barometric etc.)

or

2. Would mounting the MAF in the MFI airbox ahead of the ITBs but downstream of a filter be feasible or self-defeating the use of ITBs? Could a more aggressive cam be used in a scenerio like this with the MAF?

Basically I want to have my cake and eat it too. Well mannered EFI, vintage looks and sound, S style cams...or maybe not (I can be reasonable at times), and reliable inexpensive programable Motronic.

I emailed this question to Steve Wong but I guess he's probably a bit busy making a living than to be entertaining my fantasies. Wait that sounds weird, maybe I should re-phrase that.

Has anyone used a Motronic DME outside the circle in a manner such as this?

Did it work?

Am I totally off my rocker?

Does my frontal lobe have to much overlap at TDC?

If anyone needs me I'll be in my padded cell I mean office.

Chuck Moreland is working on something similar.... He is using MFI stacks modified for the new injector and then a stand alone aftermarket EFI controller.

Cheers

It will be interesting to see what Chuck comes up with.

Here's a motor that's in car (CamB) that has EFI adapted to MFI stacks and TBs'. This motor is based off an aftermarket computer I believe. It's inputs are just TPS and RPMs. It's not near as comprehensive or effecient as Motronic.

So anyone know of a Motronic ITB setup?

I guess Steve Wong could answer you question as well. If anyone know if that can be done, he will....

Cheers
