Wierd carbon pattern

After takin my heads off I noticed this wierd pattern on the top edge of each jug....what is weird is its deeper on the sides than top or bottom. I still have the original honing marks on the jugs though...

Should I worry about this?

Cheers,

Mike

If you're talking about the clean part of the piston (upper right hand corner) I think it's caused by incomplete combustion/unburnt fuel.
I think Smokey Unich's books talk about this and how to remedy it.
