P201 Clamp dimensions?
I have a P201 engine stand with the bench clamp coming and I would like to start building a stand to mount it before it arrives. Unfortunately I do not have the dimensions of the bench clamp, i.e. the bolt hole diameter, center to center spacing, and overall dimensions of the clamp.
It would be great if someone who has this can give me the measurements so I can start fabricating? It would give me a head start! Cheers,, Mike __________________ |

Mike,
I don't have any dimensions. I do have a question. Engine stands are cheap. I don't think you can build one for what Pelican sells them. Did I miss something here? |
I already have an engine stand with the usual 4-bolt top. Its rated for 2000lbs so its a pretty heavy stand. I wanted to use the P201 yoke/clamp assembly that I bought so I am going to cut the top of my stand off and weld in a small platform so I can bolt down the clamp. My wife is head of sales at a large machine shop (you know, the kind with 50' lathes) so I can get pretty much anything fabricated pretty cheap. I was going to get the guys at the shop to cut me a piece of plate that matches the clamp base, drill the mounting holes and then weld it up to the stand. I can do that in my home shop but they do it much easier (nothing like having a shear where 1/2" plate just goe s **snip**).

Mike,
I understand. You could get lucky with the holes matching your existing stand. Let us know how things go. |
