Greetings:
I'm a new 911 owner and first post here: forgive lack of technical detail... Have a 1987 Carrera Targa, and when the car was up in the air to check for leaks etc. (saw some blue smoke out of the tailpipe earlier at idle) here's the kicker: noticed the oil lines running to the oil cooler were COLD!!! Ackkk! The motor was warm (oil temp first notch) and pressure was between 3 and 4... Is it a case of a bad oil pump, or a possible block in the oil cooler line loop? Had it flat-bedded home... Sounds like you may have a normal system with no problems (except the smoke). The thermostat shouldn't open until the motor gets to 190 or so. The first mark is 194 degrees. You need to drive it hard on a warm day an get the temp higher to see if the thermostat is opening. If the car is running at proper temps then don't worry about the cold lines.
