For a 3.2 ss conversion in which bigger pistons and cylinders are used on a 3.0, do you ned to do any head machining since the 3.0 cylinders has head gaskets and the 3.2 does not?

Doesn't want/need a 3.6L

![]() The only modification necessary is a small chamfer on the heads to match the larger cylinder bore. Ollie's are any other competent machine shop can perform this for you with little difficulty. Ralph |

Ralph or anyone else,
I am hoping you can explain this chamfer in a little more detail and why it is necessary. What happens if this chamfer is not machined at the head? Thanks, Michel |

The chamfer is done on the head to eliminate any potential flat spots where the now oversized cylinder meets the head. With the cylinder on the head, you can scribe a circle around it and look and see where the chamfer needs to be. To be honest, I really don't know what the effects (if any) would be if this step is missed/ignored, other than potentially creating a hot spot. Ralph |
