Oil pump suction sealent coming off -- what to do?
Was cleaning up the engine parts yesterday and noticed the sealant that is around the oil pump suction as it goes into the oil pump housing is coming off. The suction tube is a little loose, meaning that I can pull it in and out about 1/8" and it can twist a little maybe 1/8". It doesn't wiggle side to side though.
1. Is this a problem? 2. Should I pick the rest of the sealant off? Don't want it coming off after engine assembled. The part that's missing I just took off because it was hanging there. 3. Should I replace sealant, if so, what should I use? ![]() |

This happened to mine as well. I went ahead and removed the sump pipe from the pump and cleaned off all old sealant, and reinstalled the pipe with JB Weld, being very careful not to squeeze excess epoxy out into the pump. Been working fine.

With a little force, yes. I used JB Weld on mine.
