turbo kits for an 87 to 89 carrera g50
As i spend more time watching my dream of a newer 5 speed turbo in great shape disappear into the confusion of porshce angst, I come back to the venerable idea of taking a 87-89 carrera to these surly horsepower heights myself. I would start with two very similar cars and motors , neither wide body, so rear whell size is limited. One I want to drive while the other is the guniea pig. So do I pick the slowest engine to be the victim, have it dropped and disasemplbed in my garage and then? Lets say the tear down shows normal wear and tear, what do I start with. Is there a good east coast kit engine builder near VA, MD Or NC that could take this engine in and transform it inot a beast, or sell me the make-up so that I can transform her into the beast. I want to work on her. This means more than cosemetic, propbably all the interally measured and fixed or replaced, and the external boosters, perhaps a turbo and fuel system. were does one go about finding kits that can be self installed and will work and a cost sheet, etc. anyone know where to start...sorry for being long winded. its something i really want to do...thanks

Happy New Year.
So long as you are willing on the down time. The information resources are available here and on other sites. Planning is foremost. Sort of like business. Do your budget first, so you will have no surprises, then stick to it. And you can even go to BA for rebuild class that is second to none. You have lots of options, but they all require your complete commitment. Otherwise you should rule out DIY so you can come up with a workable plan. When you speak with a few builders and find they're all in the same ball park then you will see what you have to plan for. Are you memebr of clubs in your local area( eg PCA) .
