What distributor for a 2.7 with Webers?
 

I'm building a 2.7L engine to roughly RS specs: Replacing the CIS with Webers, boring the ports to 36, RSR 8.5:1 pistons, Solex cams.

My understanding is that the stock CIS distributor does not have the right advance curve to match the Webers. Can anyone suggest a different distributor - or someone in the Bay area who can recurve the distributor.

You'll probably find more specifics in the archives, but the later distributors (after 74 or so) use a retarded initial timing spec (0º to 5º ATDC) and a longish mechanical advance curve (total is around 35º BTDC).

The early S and RS distributors (pretty similar) start with a static timing of about 5º BTDC and a shorter mechanical advance curve of around 27-30º (total is around 32-35º BTDC. In addition, these early distributors have a quicker advance curve; most of the mechanical advance is done by 4000 rpm.

The exact specs are in the factory manual. You can also have yours recurved to match the factory spec. I think Steve at Rennsport (OR) can do this for you.
