Head stud removal...odd finding
The Snap-on tool did a great job and had absolutely no problem getting all the unbroken Dilavar studs out today. The wierd thing was that the upper(intake) studs that are at the ends (by the flywheel and by the chain case) were all buggers and required real heat (oxy-acetylene) to get these steel studs out. But again only these 4 of the steel ones. Heck all the Dilavars came out without heat..just the snapon tool and a quick burp from my cheap Harbor Freight cordless impact (to tighten slightly).
This seems wierd...anybody have a good reason that only these 4 studs would be a problem ? We also were able to grind the VERY short stub of the one broken Dilavar and with vise grips, and no heat, turn it out

All except one dilivar and one steel stud came out without heat. I double nutted them and some were a little tighter than others. Seems like we only hear about the tough removals. Considered myself lucky. The only heat I used was from a electric heat gun. Doesn't get much easier.
