Nasty Old Engine - Value?

I have a nasty rusty old engine that I would like to get out of my garage. I can't find any serial numbers on it near the fan mount, but I'm pretty sure it's an early aluminum case 2.0. I measured on of the bores and it's 80 mm. Is there any value in this motor? I was thinking of trying to get $150 for it, but I don't even know if it's worth that. The pistons are rusted solid and I expect that only the aluminum case is salvagable, but you all would know better than me.

Thanks for any advice you can share.

it's probably worth a little more than $150. those early aluminum cases are somewhat coveted in the vintage racing circles. the drawback to your particular engine is that the case is the only thing of any real value and until it's tore down and inspected the value is questionable.

that said...I'll give you $150 for it...;)

Found a number: 6404743 with a star on either side. I'm going to try and pull it apart. The cylinders are frozen solid.

That would make it a Mag case, right? Non counterweighted crank, etc... not very desireable at all.:(

So being that it is a mag case 914-6 motor, does it have any value?

YES; 914-6 cases are highly desired in the 914-6 community. Too many early mag cases were replaced with 911 cases after failures or when the motors got swapped out for more displacement. 914-6 restorers will pay a premium for a 914-6 case with a 914-6 serial number. Tear it apart, clean it up and sell it. Worth plenty more than $150.
