camshaft housings-which is which?
just about to get the left side of my 930 bolted up when i read in waynes book that the cam housings are 'slightly' different. hmm... i just grabbed one of them and cleaned it up, thinking they were the same. hmm.... does anyone know the 'slight' differences?

If this is a 930 engine, the way I can tell is that the driver's side (cylinders 1 through 3) the cam housing is open on the rear (the portion that the actually receives the camshaft) to accomodate the scavenge pump. The pump is run off of the cam and therefore this section needs to be open on the housing. On cylinders 4 through 6 there is a large cover (more like a plug) that hides the back of the cam.

Yeah, I read that too. I scribed mine when I took it apart. Unfortunately, mine is a 911SC so I can't tell you what how they might be different for a 930.
