Question about Mahle vs. Mahle Motorsport

Sorry if this has been covered before...

Thinking out long range about a rebuild, I plan to rebuild my 3.2 into a 3.4

Was browsing prices for P&C's on Pelican.

Mahle 3.2, 9.3:1, 95mm bore $700.25

Mahle Motorsport, 9.8:1, 98mm bore $4625.50

Can someone explain the humongous price difference to me?
Not knockin' em, just need to understand the $3900 diff.

The 95mm set is the regular production OEM part that are made in large quantities; hence the lower price.

The Motorsport P/C sets are limited production run, competition based components and their production volumes are expressed by the price.

Still,..IMHO, a much better choice than the cheaper JE's.

The price difference is not that big at all. You need to buy6 of the 700 dollar piston and cylinders!!!! So you are looking at 4200 ish vs 4625. If Wayne was selling a set of 6 for 700 he would be loosing a ton of dough on every set he sold!!!!!!

Cheers

The 3.2's are cast too - right? the motorsports are forged.
